The Internet connection we provide is among the fastest available in the UK and is will substantially better than connections from most other ISPs. We have a Business Class connection with a very low contention ratio of 12:1. (The contention ratio is an indication of how many users who will be attempting to use the same lines). Most 'Free' or 'Fixed Monthly Fee' connection packages have contention ratios of 50:1 or above. This means:

- Fewer busy lines
- Less chance of being disconnected at busy times.

2. Enter your username: free
3. Enter your password: free
4. Away you go!

To send email when dialled up to this account, change your smtp server to 'smtp.virtelco.com'

You can use the above dialup number with a normal phone line and modem or an ISDN line (single channel).

How do we do provide this service for free?
Like all free ISPs, we get a share of the cost of your calls to our dialup number. Of course BT get the lion's share of the revenue, but we make a small percentage on each minute you stay dialled up. You only ever pay the cost of a local rate phone call.
